Meet Dr. Taylor M. Watkins, D.C. — Your Chiropractor in Flowers Plantation

Dr. Taylor M Watkins, Chiropractor at Flowers Chiropractic in Flowers Plantation, Clayton, NCEvery practice has a story behind it. At Flowers Chiropractic, that story is a homecoming. Dr. Taylor M. Watkins grew up in North Carolina, left to pursue her education and build her clinical skills, and returned home — to this community, to Flowers Plantation — as both a chiropractor and a mother. That personal arc shapes everything about the way she practices. When she talks about the importance of family wellness, about caring for babies and children and expecting mothers and active adults all under one roof, she is not reciting a mission statement. She is describing her own life. Call (919) 553-6711 or Schedule Appointment to meet her in person.

A North Carolina Native, Home Again

Dr. Watkins was shaped by this part of North Carolina — the communities, the people, and the values that form the fabric of Johnston County. She left to study, to train, and to grow as a clinician. Then life brought her full circle, and she came back — not to open a franchise or a satellite office, but to plant something personal. Flowers Chiropractic is the expression of that return: a practice built in the community she grew up in, designed for the families she understands from the inside out.

That is not a marketing narrative. It is simply what happened. And it is the foundation of everything this practice is built on.

Education and Training

Dr. Watkins earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a Pre-Athletic Training focus from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC — where she worked closely with athletic teams as a student athletic trainer. That early immersion in movement, performance, and the mechanics of the human body gave her the foundation that would shape her clinical approach for years to come. It was during this time that she discovered chiropractic care — an approach that aligned deeply with her belief that the body is designed to function well and to heal naturally when given the right support.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Chiropractic from Sherman College of Chiropractic in 2022 — one of the most respected chiropractic institutions in the country, known for its rigorous standards and its commitment to principled chiropractic philosophy. During her time at Sherman, Dr. Watkins was actively engaged in student leadership through SABCA — the Student American Black Chiropractic Association — serving as both Secretary and Vice President, where she helped organize regional conferences and worked to promote chiropractic philosophy within the profession.

Clinical Experience

Following graduation, Dr. Watkins spent two years as lead chiropractor in Columbia, South Carolina — an experience that cemented both her clinical skills and her philosophy of care. Her Columbia practice focused on family and pediatric care, giving her the opportunity to care for patients across every stage of life: newborns and infants, children and teenagers, expecting and postpartum mothers, active adults, and grandparents. She did not specialize in one demographic. She built her practice around all of them — because that is what a family chiropractor does.

Those two years as lead chiropractor sharpened her clinical decision-making, deepened her soft tissue and adjustment skills, and reinforced something she already believed: that true health begins at home, with families making intentional choices about their wellbeing. By the time she returned to North Carolina, Dr. Watkins had the experience to back everything she believed.

Techniques and Specializations

Dr. Watkins is trained in four primary chiropractic techniques, allowing her to tailor care to each individual patient’s age, condition, and comfort level.

Diversified Technique — The most widely practiced chiropractic method, delivering precise manual adjustments that restore normal joint motion across the full spine and extremities. Diversified technique forms the foundation of most adult chiropractic adjustments at Flowers Chiropractic.

Webster Technique — A specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment protocol developed for use during pregnancy, targeting sacral and pelvic mechanics to support pelvic balance and optimal fetal positioning. Dr. Watkins is trained in the Webster Technique and is pursuing certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). As a mother herself, this technique is particularly close to her practice and her heart. Learn more: Prenatal Chiropractic & Webster Technique

Activator Method — A low-force, instrument-assisted technique that delivers a controlled, gentle impulse to specific spinal segments. Ideal for pediatric patients, seniors, and any patient who prefers a lighter-touch adjustment without the manual thrust of Diversified technique. Learn more: Pediatric Chiropractic

Thompson Drop Table Technique — A manual technique using a specialized drop table that uses gravity to assist the adjustment, reducing the physical force required while maintaining the precision of the correction. Particularly effective for pelvic and lumbar spine conditions.

Beyond chiropractic adjustment, Flowers Chiropractic offers a full suite of advanced soft tissue therapies — including shockwave therapy, dry needling, spinal decompression, cupping therapy, myofascial release, and more — available from day one. Dr. Watkins’ philosophy has always been that the adjustment is the foundation, and everything else supports and extends it.

Licensure and Professional Memberships

Dr. Watkins is licensed to practice chiropractic in both North Carolina and South Carolina. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. — one of the largest and most respected historically Black Greek letter organizations in the United States, whose public service mission aligns with her own commitment to community health and empowerment.

Her Philosophy of Care

Dr. Watkins’ clinical philosophy is grounded in three principles she has held since her early days as an athletic trainer and that she has seen validated across years of clinical practice.

Meet patients where they are. Every patient walks in with a different history, a different body, a different level of understanding about their own health. Dr. Watkins does not apply a standard protocol to everyone. She starts with the person in front of her — their concerns, their goals, their comfort level — and builds care from there.

Educate about their bodies. Patients who understand what is happening in their bodies make better decisions about their care. Dr. Watkins takes the time to explain what she finds, what it means, and why the recommended treatment addresses it — so patients leave every visit knowing more than when they arrived. Informed patients are empowered patients.

Empower families to grow in lasting health together. The goal of chiropractic care at Flowers Chiropractic is not to create dependency on ongoing treatment. It is to build a foundation of spinal health and physical function that serves every member of the family across every stage of life — and to equip patients with the knowledge and habits to maintain it.

As a Mother and a Member of This Community

Dr. Watkins does not just work in Flowers Plantation — she lives here. She is raising her children in the same community where her patients are raising theirs. The families who walk through the door at Flowers Chiropractic are her neighbors, her community members, the people she sees at the park and the grocery store and the school events. That proximity is not incidental. It is the point.

When she is not in the office, Dr. Watkins can be found spending time with her children, enjoying the outdoors, or curled up with a good book in a quiet moment. She brings that same presence — grounded, warm, genuinely invested — to every patient she sees.

What Patients Can Expect

A first visit with Dr. Watkins is unhurried. She takes a thorough history, performs a comprehensive chiropractic examination, explains her findings in plain language, and outlines a care plan that reflects your specific presentation and goals. Nothing happens without your understanding and agreement. Her approach is collaborative, not prescriptive — and her priority is always what is right for the patient in front of her, not what fits a predetermined protocol.

If a condition falls outside the scope of chiropractic care or warrants co-management with another provider, Dr. Watkins will tell you so directly and coordinate accordingly. She is not a practitioner who overreaches clinically. She is one who knows exactly what she offers, does it exceptionally well, and works within a collaborative healthcare model when other expertise is needed.
